Referee Coach/Mentor levels of commitment:
If you have interest or expertise and passion for any or ALL of these, then please choose which roles you are interested in for 2025. These mentorship roles are a way to PAY IT FORWARD, give back to the referee community and positively influence younger officials to keep them IN the game. Opportunity to build in physical rest time in your soccer schedule, but still be involved. Gives great satisfaction when you see the lightbulb go on and a younger official "get it"; also builds connections as you watch individuals grow and advance. You can help push, motivate and advocate for those with great potential.
Instruction Role. (Instructor) teaching and instructing through various forms of learning styles for the New Referee Courses. These are assigned by the SDI and paid by the SRC. New format is 3 hours of on-field training (no classroom).
Performance Evaluator Role (Assessor) - observing from off-field, taking notes, giving short, specific feedback to help them improve (and re-enforce positives) during post-game reflection. Written feedback with scores, examples from notes and submitted to SDA for help with upgrading. These are assigned by the SDA and paid by SRC for your time and expertise.
On-field Role- working with inexperienced referees as part of a crew - practices, scrimmages, leagues or tournaments. Give REAL TIME, IN-GAME feedback. Positive, encouraging, constructive. Paid for the game, perhaps a little extra, (not in WisRef budget, but will work with local assignors, districts & clubs to see if there can be a stipend.)
